Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former. ~Albert Einstein
The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity. ~Voltaire
Present audience excepted– surely –but Carlo Cippola, George Carlin, and Jonathan Swift aren’t the only ones who think that there’s a bit too much Stupidity exhibited by the human race. In this week’s Short, the Dawdlers join the chorus.

Non-stupid, funny & sobering. I’m left wondering – is there a cure for Stupidity, like awareness? We can all think of a time we were acting Stupid and had it pointed out, which (hopefully led to a correction in our approach.

Yes. I’d say many can think back and go, “man, that was stupid.” But we learned from it and hopefully have the sense not to repeat ourselves. But I also think there are those in the world where there is no incentive to learn from mistakes. I’ve noticed people can be proud of anything so long as they give a retrospective spin of “I meant to do that!” or “I’m happenin’! I’m taking life by the horns!” when really they just weren’t thinking about the consequences of their actions and like they often do, just slam their foot on the accelerator and let their lizard brains have the wheel. Also, two more thoughts. 1) There is inherited variation in cognitive potential in populations (and in this case repeated foolish behavior is tolerated by others. There is no “Idiots Holocaust” in history from eugenics’ inhumane program.). 2) I think child development researchers argue the first three years of a person’s life is very important for their future successes. I can see bad parenting being inherited as much as anything and that it would be pretty easy to repeat it.
